GroupLaunch Recap

This past Sunday we launched our small groups for the semester. Isn’t it true that life is more than a status update? That’s why I’m so excited about our college groups. We live in a social media culture where it’s tempting to define our relationships by the quantity of Facebook friends or comments on our photos. But the last time I checked, no one’s life was changed because of a status update or retweet. Our small groups challenge what’s becoming the norm—relationships without a face-to-face conversation. After Sunday night we now have over 200 college-age students who have made the commitment to put down their smart phones and to do life in person. I could not be more excited about that.

I’m excited about the new relationships that will be formed. I’m excited about the ways our group leaders will love on their students, and I can’t wait for students to know God more within the context of community. All of those things are going to happen because students signed up for a small group. It’s going to be a great semester!

If you are not in a small group, you will have an opportunity to sign up in January. Stay tuned for future announcements.
