why should i volunteer?
We all have opportunities to use the time, resources, and gifts that God gives us to serve others. It’s one of the primary ways we glorify him. The Living Room gives you a number of ways to get involved.
serving at the living room
Volunteers make The Living Room work. Here are some ways you can be involved:
- Production: Help produce the college environment at our gatherings.
- Host Team: Help make The Living Room a welcoming place.
- Hospitality Team: Prepare the environment for students and reset the space after the event is over.
- Parking Team: Provide clear parking directions for attendees.
- Kitchen Team: Serve dinner to attendees.
If you're interested in serving in one of these areas at The Living Room, email Lynsey or talk to someone at our info table.

Not in college but want to volunteer with the college ministry?
If you’re 25 years or older and interested in serving, there are two opportunities:
1. Small Group Leader
College students do not lead college Small Groups. Qualified adults serve as leaders. College Small Group leaders play an important role in the college ministry, so we take great care when enlisting them. Leading a group requires a weekly commitment for one school year. Submit a leadership application to begin the process. Once your application is received, we will be in contact with you to schedule an interview.
2. Kitchen Team
Serve dinner at The Living Room. We ask that our Kitchen Team serves two times a month during the school year. For more information about volunteering with the Kitchen Team, fill out our volunteer form.
3. Hospitality Team
Each week this team prepares our environment for students and helps reset the space after the event is over. These volunteers create a welcoming space that shows our students we are ready for them when they arrive. The commitment is two times a month during the school year. Set-up is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and tear-down is from 9:00 until about 10:00 p.m. Volunteers are provided with dinner and are welcome to stay and attend the service in-between set-up and tear-down. For more information about volunteering with the Hospitality Team, fill out our volunteer form.
4. Host Team
Our Host Team welcomes students, creates a Home Away From Home experience, and connects first-time guests. They are our front lines on Monday nights. The commitment is serving twice a month during the school year from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. For more information about volunteering with the Host Team, fill out our volunteer form.
